It was an early snowy morning when the male cardinal stopped by the feeder for a sunflower seed breakfast. Three times our eyes met and then. as if he was late for for something far more important, he suddenly burst from his perch, scattering snow from the branches and his wings. I smiled, sipped my hot coffee, and thanked the Earth Mother for such an awesome way to begin another day on Eighty Acres.
