Today I purposefully slowed my pace as I traveled the Eighty Acres trails. For today was not about how far I traveled, rather, what hidden beauty I might discover if I allowed myself to be mindful and linger just a bit more. I was soon rewarded when spotted these plant leaves hiding under a group of tangled ferns. I don't know how the leaves became patterned in this manner or for what purpose. Nor do I really need to know. For today I found beauty that would never have been discovered or celebrated unless I had not slowed down, and taken only mindful steps to enjoy the wonder, joy and mysteries while on this day's journey.
