Don't need a lucky penny, horseshoe or rabbit's foot, because today I found a four-leafed clover on Eighty Acres. How very rare they are. Due to a recessive gene it is estimated that only one in 10,000 clovers is four-leaved. Their lore is steeped in mystery. From a Celtic charm to protect and ward off bad luck; to the middle ages, where children believed by carrying a four-leafed clover they would be able to enter the magical world of fairies. Today the four-leafed clover continues to be associated with good luck with the four leaves representing HOPE, LOVE, HAPPINESS, and FAITH.
I found no need to pluck the four-leafed clover. No need to press it between the pages of a heavy book or carry it in my billfold. Rather, let it be visited by a buzzing bumblebee. Let the black crows strut by it's hiding place. Let it quietly sleep under the stars. Let it feel the soft rains kiss each leaf. Let the lucky clover return to the earth.
