A Winter Gift

Bruce Siebold

According to the calendar, winter arrives next week on Eighty Acres. However, with deep snow and bitter temperatures, various wildlife are already working hard to find their next meals. Thanks to an ample supply of black sunflower seeds, several northern cardinals have decided to tough it out and spend the winter with me on Eighty Acres. The cardinal who is a ground feeder, visits the feeders in the early mornings and again at dusk. Its crimson red body and black hooded mask makes for spectacular arrivals and exits, and I never tire of their visits. Thank you Earth Mother for this wonderful winter gift.
